UNESCO, in cooperation with the governments of membership countries, offers a wide variety of scholarships as well as scholar and vocational training programmes. All the scholarships and trainings are addressed to university graduates and are distributed geographically. Complete information on requirements is available on UNESCO web site. The documents of candidates applying for scholarships are submitted to UNESCO by UNESCO national committees, whereas the candidates applying for trainings submit their documents directly to UNESCO.
UNESCO/Poland scholarship programme offers: junior positions for scientific workers from African countries, and scholarships for scientific workers from Central and Eastern Europe. Both programmes are realized by Polish UNESCO Committee.

Scholarship programme for developing countries

This programme is cosponsored by UNESCO and Polish government. The scholarship offer is addressed to young scientific workers from developing countries. The objective is to enable African scientists to participate in scientific work of Polish research institutes. Their experience, transferred to their native countries, should stimulate the development of research institutes in developing countries, as well as enhance scientific cooperation between both sides.
The selection of the candidates is carried out by UNESCO in cooperation with national committees. The organization and travel expenses, as well as insurance are covered by UNESCO. The Polish side provides scientific supervision and 6-month-scholarship. The grantees are obliged to report to UNESCO on accomplishing the previously determined goals.
Polish UNESCO Committee is UNESCO's partner in fulfilling the programme.

Scientific and research institutions interested in hosting young scientists from African countries are requested to contact:
